Flintlock firing Videos

Now I don't know the frame rates here. But this is a Don King Flint Hawken made in the mid 1970s.





This was maybe 15 years ago, before my son joined the USMC.


This is a Rifle Shop Manton rifle lock, recessed breech and good springs in my 16 bore. I don't think I have a copy at full speed will check.

Thanks for posting Dan. What were the charges used and the weight,s of the rifles?

100 fff and 90 ff in the 54. The Manton shoots a one ounce ball with 140 gr ff all Swiss. I think both run about 10 pounds.

It's a good thing it was cold when you shot those videos. That 16 bore load has to be a thumper.

Thanks for that load data Dan . When I get my 66 to a shooting stage I'm hoping it groups well with a smaller charge ( 1-80 twist IIRC ).
