New knife
« on: November 09, 2023, 04:37:24 PM »
JBulitz stopped over and dropped off the knife he made for me. I didn't really give him much direction, just a few pictures of knives I liked and told him to have fun. I am happy with the results. 5 inch blade, perfect size for hunting.

Awesome knife, I like the subtlety in the blade shape that makes it look fast.

Very nice execution of "go have fun with it."

Bull Shannon, it's an exhausted mill-bastard file passed along by MeliusCreekTrapper; I try to leave a tiny bit of the file surface near the bolster so this is evident.  I actually never hammered this blade and the only tools that touched it were a hacksaw and a series of "un-exhausted" files.  Annealed, worked, re-hardened, and tempered 1hr at 400 degrees.

That's beautifully done, and is the handle curly maple, or could it be ash? Looks just a bit different that what I'm used to seeing, but it is exceptional.

Handle is curly ash the maker cut himself.
