That thing shoots pretty good for a piece of DOM pipe :)  Actually I made the barrel from high quality hydraulic tube that was annealed and normalized and the bore was polished. It shoots fairly straight out to 50 yards. Never tried any farther.

Mine was annealed the top of the wood stove for a few months, Okawbow.

Dan is just fine. It's how I shot my match. No different than shooting prone using your elbows. Sorry to all if I didn't make it clear enough in the instructions.
I score that target as a 50 2X (that's only 3 X's away form a perfect score).

Prone is as good as a bench with a front rest if done right.

It might be, but then there's the issue of tying to get up off the ground.

8 days should be long enough for even the stiffest of us to get up off the ground, MusKrat!

I'm printing some out, and I'm hoping to play on Friday. Probably with my .62 rhino rifle
The weather has been really weird lately.  +7 degrees and rainy yesterday.
I've been sick lately, so that's my current excuse until I have a better one.

Daryl is returning today from his Christmas get-away,  Hopefully we can get out maybe Thursday or Friday and kill some rhinoceros.  I am going to use my Joseph Lang .66 cal rifle.  It's sighted for 100 yards, to I'll have to aim about four inches low of the dot.

A simple spotter will work well, Taylor. I'm BAAAAAAACK! ;D
I think old bull thrower still has some balls around somewhere, close to the right size.

Well, Taylor and I got out. Shot sitting and from a table, elbow rested, 25 yards as per inst. Should have blackened the X ring on more targets, I guess.
Not too bad results. Had to use 3 different sizes of balls, .682, .675" and one .662". 10 ounce patch with the .682's, 14 ounce with the .675's and a 14 ounce AND a 10 ounce with the
.662" ball. That was VERY snug, but once into the bore, down it went just fine.

Great shooting Daryl. I see this as a 50 3X and very close to a 50 4X. This puts you in 1st place. Between you and Dphariss its very close. Would others look at both of these and see if my old eyes are measuring them correctly. Dphariss posted 2 different 5 shot groups so only his first (the last group with his .54 count).

That's how we scored it as well, Mike. Very close on the bottom left & right targets - almost comes 1/2 way, but not quite.
Thanks.
BUT- you haven't seen Taylor's targets yet, shot with his Joseph Lang 16 bore, built in 1853.

As Daryl mentioned I used my old Joseph Lang 16 bore rifle - quite appropriate for rhino, though I expect it was made for hunting in India, judging by the engraving.  I used 86 gr. of GOEX 2Fg, .650" Tanner pure lead balls, .020" hard cotton denim patches and Ballistol/water at 1:10 for lube.  The rifle loads like silk.  Its first rear sight leaf is for 100 meters, so at 25 yards, the rifle shoots about 3 1/2" high.  For full disclosure, I used a black bud aiming point about the same size as the X ring in the target,  stapled below the bull on the target.

WOW! Taylor that is an amazing target. By the decision that your three "X" hits are more centered your 50 3X now leads the board. Everyone else agree? As for using a sighting dot is just smart shooting.

Fine by me, even if only one was centered.

Good job Taylor!

I got out and burned a bit of powder with my .45 flintlock.  I was shooting low for some reason, so I was a little disappointed with my results.
I was shooting offhand for it. Oh well. More practice is required.
