Right? That’s a BEAUT!  All these guns coming up for sale—interesting times. Only wish I had a stack of Benjamin’s laying around 🤣

Only $25,000

Prices definitely going down…😉 at this rate I’ll be getting a nice one in another year!

That one sold well under. Hammer price was $22,000. Estimate was 30 to 50K.
A couple others sold well over. Overall, I'd think prices were down.

I wonder about it being an internet only auction, with no auctioneer to pump up the crowd?

Yeah definitely a great buy, it has great provenance, and the rare INRI inscription. Someone got a deal!

Holy cow...had I known it would go so low I might have done a foolish (but fun) thing and maxed out that zero-percent credit card I have!  I had the pleasure of seeing this rifle in person and what a gem.  Someone did indeed get the bargain of the year as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah I didn’t follow it because after the Horst auction I expected this one to go much higher!

I would of maxed out my credit card also🤣🤣👍🏻

Disappointing results for the owner. Hard to figure why this didn’t bring in the estimated value
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

I certainly don't know. I've seen that gun a number of times and it's a fine piece.
About the one and only stickler it has is that at some point, no doubt in its years of use, someone filed a rear sight dovetail into the barrel, right through the letters Be of the name Beck. They show a picture of that on the auction site, and they should show that, although the gun is undoubtedly a JP Beck.
Strange too, is that some of the other items sold for well above estimate, like the Abner Howe musket, with a replaced lock. And the lock, a replacement that some could argue is not the correct style. None the less, it went for well above the high estimate.

I watched the auction, but didn't add up the winners and the losers. I know though, that if I was going to sell, I don't think I would use an on-line only venue like that....

The wood box on a signed Beck, despite being quite interesting and perhaps a net positive to we geeks, is a negative to general collectors who want to see a classic brass box.
