Help identifying gun

I’m new to the forum. Just purchased a 59.5 inch long rifle. Marked “J R Duncan?” top of barrel. Curved bird on patch box. Bone/ivory inlaid cheek piece. Double headed eagle above cheek piece. I’ll post some pics later. Thanks to anyone who can help!

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

What Mike said x2. It would be uf utmost help if you could post photos if the entire rifle and others of the butt-stock and lock areas, etc.

Here’s some more pics. The gun had a tag that said made by “Jim Duncan.” To me it doesn’t look like a really old gun but I’m admittedly a newbie. It was either bought at an auction or made in 1957 according to tag. Hard to say which.

Post it in Contemporary Longrifle Collecting. Someone may know the builder. Heck, he may still be building rifles.
