Horn with 5 Bands
« on: December 04, 2009, 07:45:37 PM »
This one is about 11 1/2" around the outside curve, the base is Cherry, colored with oven cleaner and is about 2". The base is hollowed out and the horn fits up in it for about 1/4". The bands are pinned on as is the pewter tip, it is about 1 1/2".

Awsome horn.  I love the banded horns and you have it down pat.  Thanks for posting the pics.

Great stuff, is there a band at the base, or is all of that the plug?

That is part of the base plug, the horn fits up inside of it. If you looked at the base from the big end it would look like a circle within a circle. The inside of the inner circle is hollowed out and the space between the inner and outer is where the horn fits in. When pinned the pin goes thought the base, then thought the horn then back thought the base. I hope that makes sense.

Tim, as usual, great job.  I really like the layout and size of this one.  Nice touch with a pewter tip too.
