A Christmas Pouch
« on: December 24, 2009, 06:26:36 PM »
Hi Folks:

My wife, Jan, has been after me to make her something since CLA this year. The time had not presented itself, but with Christmas approaching, I found a way.

Here is the result. This is loosely based on a traditional haversack mixed up with a fowler pouch. She will use this daily, so I did not want to make it too large. It is made from dyed, heavy hemp fabric, lined with pillow ticking. It is about 10" wide by 12" deep. There are two inside pockets; one full-width across the front about 5, 1/2" deep, and a hanging rear inside pocket about 7" wide by 4" deep.

The flap shape is reminiscent of an early Virginia style. The edges are bound as is the inside lip. The fringe and the Moon overlay just had to go on there. The strap is 1, 1/4" wide for a little extra comfort.

Hope she likes it.

Merry Christmas to you all!

Jeff

And even looks buckskin from afar Jeff.  I'm sure she's going to love it and will come in real handy.

Merry Christmas,

Of course she'll  like it!  It's a cool gift and you made it.  We all treasure the gifts that someone made for us.  That part of Christmas will hopefully always be with us.
Merry Christmas,

Very nice!  You do great work.  I sure like the horn and pouch you made for me.
