Another Screw Tip
« on: December 17, 2009, 04:39:48 PM »
This one is about 12 1/2" around the outside curve, the base is Cherry colored with oven cleaner and is about 2" across. The horn tip is about 2 1/4" and is threaded 1/2-13, the collar is about 7/8' and is pinned on. Overall it is a very slender horn.

Hi Tim,
Cool horn.  I like it.  I have never tried a collar.  Do you turn the neck of the horn to fit into the collar, or work the other way around?  I'd like to try one this winter.

Hey Tim,

As always, a very handsome horn.  I especially like the color of the horn body.  What did you use on it?  Thanks.

Very nice horn Tim. I really like the base plug and the collar. The internal screw tip with the collar system makes a very unique horn.

Great job!

On the collar, I worked both the horn and the collar. On this one a only a little more than half of the collar is on the horn, the other portion is threaded and the tip screws into it. The neck was to slim to drill and tap, so... If you blow the pic of the three pieces you will be able to see it better.

I used AF and a heat gun for the color.

 Glad y'all like it.

Tim,
When I get some more raw material I want to make a few horns this winter.  When I get ready to work on a collar, I'll probably have some more questions ask.  I appreciate having a chance to look at your stuff.  Hope you keep posting your work.
