Installing barrel lugs question
« on: January 28, 2024, 02:00:42 AM »
I’m installing barrel lugs on a swamped.54 caliber Bob Hoyt barrel. The thickness at the muzzle is .140 My lugs are.050 to be milled in the barrel. The barrel is at least.050 less in the middle which leaves me about.040 of steel left after milling. Is that amount safe or should I solder them on? I can mill the lugs to .025 or.030. Just wondering how much metal needs to be left on before running into trouble. Also I’m just a backwoods amateur. Thanks

I have folded lugs out of sheet and used a shallow dovetail and solder. Would this be an option ?
