This is a Chambers fowler kit. I'm beginning the final stock shaping and I can't tell if the way the lock panel has been pre-shaped will allow for a beaver tail finial or if I should omit that on this build. The lock moulding seems very pronounced at the wrist without a lot of wood to its rear. But I am no expert with these kits. Thoughts?

Sure. They are not very high and carving at the tang and around the lock panels slims the stock and they can be INCISED don’t have to be relief.
It LOOKS higher than it is.

Hi,
You have plenty to work with and remember, the tail can be much larger than the little crested area behind the lock panel. That raised area may only involve the neck of the tail.
