just wondering what Flux shooters use and why.Dan I should have mentioned for casting lead

If your talking about flux for casting, I use dry sawdust or bees wax.

I have no knowledge of flux for shooting , I flux my casting lead several times in the process of a final cast projectile . Sawdust .

I use candle wax, canning wax, crayons. Beeswax is too precious to waste. ;)

With over 10 pounds of beeswax, (the really good stuff) that's what I use now, otherwise paraffin.

I had a friend over in the winter I was making ingots for Travis he would warm up in the shop & have a smoke . I threw his cigarettes he left unattended  in a 60 pound cook , very good flux , I sometimes buy cheap cigar Throw outs at the drug store .

  ::) Treat myself to a # 59 factory throw out every now and then.  Wish they were available  - and affordable - in Canada.

Some years ago, at fishing camp (2 weeks every June) one of the "boys" would throw us each a Cohiba. He had a "source" for them, straight from Cuba, via small plane.
