Is this Gillespie Rifle Cherry?

Still wrestling with whether to order my Kibler SMR in Cherry or Walnut. Browsing the "museum" I saw this and the stock looks like its cherry.
I love Cherry but recognize most SMRs were walnut.  I live in middle TN and you cant swing a dead cat around here without hitting a walnut tree.

If you like cherry, then go for it. I've seen them with all kinds of stock wood. Here is one of Jim's SMRs I put together with a pretty plain cherry stock darkened with oven cleaner. I kind of felt it turned out nice.

Don't know how many cherry Lehighs were made but I wanted one so I made one. This is lye, then shellac, then oil. Color seems to get nicer by the day. Do it.
