If it is anything like my welding tip cleaners, I think it might be amongst the worst things one could use.

They can last a long time but they can also enlarge after so many shots. A good many years ago a man a couple of positions down from me complained about gas blowout from my rifle. On looking at it I noticed the touchhole seemed a little large. I replaced it and had no more problem. They probably make better quality now. But they are easy to replace and not expensive.

It depends on the pressures of the loads, much the same as the example of percussion nipple wear.  This was a problem in the conical/ bullet shooting rifles which was remedied by switching to a platinum nipple .
