This rifle is available, at least until I get approved for a triple mortgage on my house. I doubt that is going to happen. It is a sight to behold.

Thanks for posting these photos of Jud and the rifle. I talked to Jud, looked at the rifle, and forgot all about having a camera. I'm glad someone thought about getting pics of this superb gun.

A fabulous gun, it goes so far beyond what any mortal would think of doing on a gun. Everything on it is so well done,
and you can see his artistic ability shine thru. Actually, I like this one better than the one he did for Gordon Barlow several years ago, although that is also an almighty piece. I held it and looked at it for a long time, if I remember correctly, it has five keys holding the barrel in. By the way, it is for sale....would be a better investment than the stock

YOWZA!!!! I am kind of neutral on embellishment as it were, but that thing is gorgeous!!! That looks more like something that would be "a gift to his Majesty, King George from his loyal subjects of Pennsylvania" as opposed to something Dan'l Boone would have dragged through the Cumberland Gap.

I recall one or two period guns, perhaps the best Kuntz and Nunnemacher, that reflect similar artwork. Way to go, Jud. Just one more great job from your bench. Incidentally, your son is doing a superior job, too. Regards, JWH

Jud Brennan's work is the best of the best- his engraving is as good as it can be accomplished. I had the pleasure of meeting Jud at a KRA show back in 86 as I remember. He had some rifles there that were beyond fine. I had a rifle with me that took a lot of work- carved engraved loads of finishing and fantastic wood. It was about my 25 rifle, Jud looked it over and said politely not bad for your first rifle, I said well I need to practice more. Then he asked me to help him photograph and dismantle a J PBeck rifle belonging to Carl Pippert, I said I would help as long as I did not put the screw driver to it. He had a Jeager there that was one of the finest rifles I have ever seen. Keep up the fine work Jud- every piece is a treasure fro years to come.

Check out the nice Shroyer influenced piece by Jud on the contemporary makers blog spot today.

Lots of people are doing "aged" finishes these days, but the ones that really look right stand out. Much like the Sibley horn they posted a few days ago, when you enlarge the photos and look at the details you see the attention to detail to every aspect on the aging and patination on this rifle - light wear, grime, checks, crackle in the finish, etc. I really like this gun and the finish, it would still be a super gun if he had finished it as "brand new" appearance - great lines, everything looks custom or unique, elegant but reserved decoration. And you see the influences that inspired it, but they have been reinterpreted as something unique to Mr. Brennan's vision.
