Late Double Rifle
« on: May 05, 2024, 04:29:15 PM »
When I first saw this, I thought it was a late West Virginia rifle, maybe a Benson.  However, according to Summers, David B Buckwalter, 1850-1928, of Antes Fort Pennsylvania, 1870-1885 Houtsdale, must be misspelled, probably Houtzdale, Clearfield County Pennsylvania. The owner's initials are kind of humorous.

David B. Buckwalter was also listed as an apprentice to J.S. Johnston in Huntingdon County, PA from 1868 to 1870.  Johnston was located in McConnellstown, PA.

I can see why you originally thought this was a Benson rifle. Very similar.
