Thanks Scanlan, my intent is to document mid 20th century long rifles and black powder gunsmiths, and then to honor them by shooting it.  I took the lock back out to clean, and found it does have Harold Robbins signature.

Taterbug, I'm sure it would raise the point of impact.  But I'm pleased with it hitting point of aim right now.  I was using a 6 O'clock hold so it hit exactly where I was aiming.  For plinking at a can or shooting at game, that's a lot easier than holding under to compensate for sights/loads set to hit higher.

I'm glad you won this one and to see that it is in good hands that will appreciate it and shoot it. I really liked it, and I was really tempted to put in fairly high sealed bid, but then I got the estimates for residing our house, electrical work, and my son's two upcoming oral surgeries, so I had to put in a low one. That's life sometimes!

Yes it is.  And perhaps I was prepared to put in even higher bids.  You never know. There are hundreds of long rifles coming up on auction every month now.  You can't win them all, but you can win some of them.

I'll wager that with the right load, that rifle will be something to reckon with! That rifle and shader are absolutely wonderful to this "tight group" addict  ;D AZshot, I sure hope that you'll tweak it some more and take a whack at this month's postal match target rested at 50 yards. Oh my goodnerss, what a rifle!

Thanks JBJ, I'd like to do that but need to know how to shoot the match.  I'll look for the thread and learn.  I think it has potential to cloverleaf, but only trying different things will tell.  I used a fairly loose patch, I didn't want to get a ball stuck before I get a longer ramrod that reaches the bottom!  The wood one does...but I don't trust those for pulling a ball, if I ever had to.
