Acraglass relaeas agent???

Doing some repair work on a fella's build that I need to use a little acraglass.
So I get everything ready and go to apply some release agent to the metal pat, and my stuff is all dried up!!
Any ideas of something else I could use?  I don't think I want to try just wax as I might never get it all back apart??
Otherwise I guess I need to just order some from Brownells??

Si decided just go on Brownels and order some.  Three oz bottle is under $8.
Went to check out and shipping is $16.99!  Plus they want another $3 to gaurantee delivery!..  For that price you'd think it would be gauranteed, not another $3!!

Bigmon, just go and buy a jar of Vaseline. it  works for epoxy, so it should work fine for acraglass.

I never had luck with their release agent. I switched to using paste wax and have never had a problem. It's all I use now.

I just 3 days ago used paste wax on bedding a tang, it works well. I’ve also used Saran Wrap on parts that it will conform to without wrinkling, excellent on barrels. Works well also.

Paste wax and Hornady case lube spray works well for me. Have not used bedding on a long rifle so far, however, use a fair amount on single shot cartridge rifle stocks.

Hi,
I use furniture paste wax, two coats, each buffed back a little so there is no thick wax build up.  Also, you can help the release process immensely by heating the parts with a heat gun.

I use Kiwi brand shoe polish and an old tooth brush.

Paste floor wax. Would not use anything else.  You can pack screw holes etc with wax. Put on thin twice let dry. Then mix the epoxy.  I have never seen it fail to release and I used to use a lot of it. Sometimes need to warm the part.

I've also packed the screw holes and\or voids with clay that you can pick up in any arts\craft store.

For an epoxy, I prefer a thinner coay, so I use as a release agent a cheap synthetic axle grease I bought at Cdn. Tire. It is maroon/red in colour  if that means anything. Been using it and only it since the 70's. BUT, that is with epoxies. I've never used it with the thin acraglas. I have used it with Acraglas Gel with perfect results. A thin coat. All lettering from stamps is easily read after separating the parts.

When I want something to get stuck, it doesn't get stuck and when I don't want something to get stuck it gets stuck. So use what ever you have on hand and hope it gets stuck.

Thanks to all.  I was able to locate some of their release agent, the NON flammable type.  I degreased the parts a couple time and still had trouble getting the agent to cover.  It kept wanting to puddle up.  I'll bet the older flammable type worked better?
Anyway, three coats seemed to cover, but then I even waxed everything.
Last evening before it hardened up completley I removed one part, fearing that I would not be able to once it was fully cured.  A mistake, It sort of distorted the inlet I removed it from and will require more work to fix that.
So I tried to remove the barrel this morning.  It came out pretty easy and looks ok.  Thanks to all for all the tips.
I do not like using bedding but pretty much had to on this one because of some problems with ill fitting parts.

Generally speaking you are better off letting the epoxy set hard before removing. But hey, if it released OK? Golden.

I like to pull the parts at the 5-7 hour time frame. Once the acriglass has gelled but not fully cured. I haven’t had any problems doing so.

I’ve always let it set for 24 hours. It’s always come apart easy enough. I’ve read that some put the piece in a freezer AFTER the 24 hour time frame. Then “snapped” it apart.

Good mention on the freezer if won't come apart easily.
