New Bag, Horn, & Accoutrements
« on: January 02, 2010, 05:56:57 AM »
Been piddling at night the last few weeks.  This is my first bag and I made some accoutrements to go with it.  The horn was made by Tim Crosby.  The hammer will be used to whack the block made for seating the ball in the muzzle and doubles as a short starter, 75 grain antler measure, 50 cal. bullet board, vent pick and brush.  The bag has a small inner pocket that holds a couple of spare flints and leather.  It is made from split cowhide, stained with fiebings leather dye, and stitched with sinew.  I beat it on an oak tree and chain link fence to limber it up and the oiled it good with neetsfoot oil.

Well sir, if that is your very first bag I think you have quite a future ahead of you.  I like it.  Great job!

Nice bag Greg and especially your technique to 'age' it.  :D

Great-looking set, Greg. All of the accoutrements are super and really add to the package.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the compliments.  This was my first time working with leather.  I kept it simple and have a lot to learn, but it should be functional and hold together well.  I think I will be ordering TC Alberts book before I try another one.  Tim's horn is the best part of the set by far.
