Neat old horn I found in a shop near Chicago about 28 years ago.

Very nice horn, appears to be from New England based on faceted throat, spout shape and what appears to be a soft wood plug. The horn body is very well shaped by a competent hand, while the carving is free spirited with images of the day but a little unsophisticated in technique. I'd guess the well-made horn was decorated by an appreciative owner sometime after the horn was made. It's one of those horns that really grabs your eye and makes you want to see all of it.

That really is a wonderful powderhorn. The fluting work is so appealing. It just screams “classic “ to me 😍
