Barrel maker?
« on: October 07, 2024, 04:03:09 PM »
This is a marked .58 cal. pistol barrel that I bought from a fellow here some years ago and I was wondering who made it.

Anyone know who marks their barrels this way?

Yes, Charlie bought Jim Goodeions  ( sp ) barrel making equipment some years ago IIRC and does some fine work.

Tks Robby- it looked deeper than that and in a poor location for it.

That googe looks like a router cut where the gunmaker was inletting the lock with the barrel in the stock, and went a little deeper than necessary.

I “scratch” barrels there on purpose to get clearance for big mainsprings on certain builds. Notch the bottom flat for the front lock screw too. I think the only concern was whether or not it was a crack or inclusion. A scratch there on a black powder gun is just a scratch in my view.
