I think it's "Tonks"...Joseph Tonks, located in Boston, Mass. He apprenticed at Rigby's in Dublin before emigrating to America. I think his products are just about the only "American-made" guns that come up to the best London quality. I saw one of heavy barrel target rifles sold for several thousand dollars, quite surprising the dealers present because it was obviously refinished. It was bought by a member of the US Muzzleloading Rifle team. The bore was just about perfect. Lord knows what it would cost to actually make such a rifle today and I believe that in most international competition you have to shoot original guns.
A friend had a Joseph Tonks live pigeon gun bought at the old Hartford Gun Show about 20 years ago this weekend...he used it to shoot trap.
