You hardly ever see them because made in the correct way, and correct width, they are just miserably heavy. Also to be correctly made they should be sewn to a buckskin strap, which only adds to the weight. I visited an old buckskinner once and saw a beautiful scrimshawed powder horn and beaded strap hanging on the wall in his living room. I asked him why he never used it. He told me he used it once and swore never to use it again, he said with the horn full of powder the rig weighed about ten pounds.
