Hi is the ramrod rib inlet into the horn tip
or just tight to the horn??

I have original examples of the rib inleted into the tip, and sitting forward of the tip. They are never in contact with the tip. There is always about a 1/16th of an inch clearansce. I'll post some photos later.

Here are the photos. The first three below are showing a percussion rifle by Harkom of Edinburg Scotland.
The last two here are a flintlock rifle by Perry. HW Mortimer apprinticed under him.
