« on: April 26, 2025, 02:39:09 AM »
I bought this recently and have not found any info on maker. It has a 36"barrel 1.125" across the flats, bore is .480" marked Remington in halfmoon style. Both lock and barrel signed T.Wiard .My amateur guess is New York, 1840ish,I'd love to know what you think.

A nice clear mule ear gun with clean lines. Swinney briefly mentions him in East Avon, NY in 1843. Noble & Moore list him as Thomas Wiard, Jr born 1805 and died 1885. "Born in NY. East Avon, NY. Louisville, Ky.1851.Back to NY 1857." I guess some research into a genealogy site and various census years would  provide more info for you.

That's a really nice mule ear!
Strange women lying in ponds, distributing swords, is no basis for a system of government!
