pistol photos, books, etc....
« on: August 22, 2008, 04:59:42 AM »
Howdy folks,
I've got a few pistol parts thrown together in a box and I am trying to find research material for the fine details. I have seen Peter Berry pistols in pictures that I'm trying to get close to. I won't say "copy" because at my stage of expertise it would be laughable. The photos were only from two angles, and there is alot I don't know. My question is " What books, or reference materials do you guys " in the know"  recommend for pistol builders?"
                                                                     Thanks for any help,   Tom

I doubt that I am an "in the know" person but these are the books that I currently have.

Thoughts on the American Flintlock Pistol  by S.E. Dyke

The Kentucky Pistol  by Chandler & Whisker

Kentucky Rifles & Pistols 1750-1850 by James R. Johnston

There is a certain amount of redundancy among the books, but I like a full library.

The best way I know of to ruin a perfectly plain longrifle is to carve and engrave it
