A young guy kills two elk with a 45 caliber flintlock. Action starts at the 24-minute mark.

Exciting for him - and trying to get it into a video.
Question shooting 2 elk, though & with a .45 round ball. That's a lot of meat to get cool on what looks like a warm day. :o

Yes, Texas must have some really liberal hunting regulations, or because it is his ranch, he can do what he wants? He did say it was really cold earlier in the video, but I agree two elk is a lot to pack out of a place inaccessible by vehicle.

Good shooting on the elk.. But I like the puppy. Need to find another JR we lost on the cancer a couple of months ago.

Very sad to lose a canine "member of the family", Dan. I still feel the lose of my bird dog, 30 years ago and think of her often. Seeing pictures of spaniels sets me off again.

Deer have been the only thing larger than rabbits I ever hunted and no luck there. Our last 3 dogs have been little Dachshunds and we loved them and I still have one,a female I called Madchen (Maydchen). The other two were Gretel and Rommel.I dread the day when Madchen departs this life and I doubt if I will get another dog of any kind,She lives better than a lot of kids in this area and I wonder why.
I have owned a lot of rifles and my favorite was a Whitworth long range semi military target rifle and I used it for 10 years and built a similar rifle in a half stock sporting rifle and used the same long, heavy bullet in it.Lyman number then was 451112 sized to .450.Don't know about a "soul"in any rifle.Maybe my Dachshund has one but that is doubtful.Winter is here in the Ohio Valley and snow may hit today in a storm that's being hyped up like it was the end of time and so far, only cold winds.

Maybe it is a way to say that a well-built flintlock reflects a bit of the soul of the builder? Certainly, a loyal dog does.

I’ve had springers for the last 30 years, love the breed!

I had a Jack Russel named Scout,, still miss her. As for the video, I know its the internet and everything everybody does is completely legit, right? To make a long skepticism short, The guy shows himself dry fire a couple times and flinched so bad he probably would have missed the paper at twenty-five yards, that and a whole bunch of other issues, but kills a couple elk with no problem. Sorry I'm just not buying it. If its all on the up and up then my apologies to our Nimrod.
