.45 cal. Load Data

 The following is some load data using my Chrony F-1 and a recently completed flintlock. The Chrony was set @15 ft. from the muzzle. All data was from .445 cast balls,.015 Oxyoke patch,and Hoppes #9 Plus. The bore was not cleaned thruout the 25 shot session.The same loading procedure was followed for each shot. Not all loads were tested for spread, however I did double check any apparent discrepencies like the substantial velocity increase between 60 gr. and 70 gr. as well as between 70 gr. and 80 gr. using Swiss FF and FFF powder. For those loads tested: Swiss FFF average spread was 44 f.p.s.
             Goex FFF average spread was 32 f.p.s.
 The barrel in the rifle tested is .45 cal. 13/16" X 42" Green Mt. 1:60 twist
The ball/patch combo was snug yet not tight.(since this data was compiled I checked a .445 ball .017 denim patch with no significant increase or decrease in velocity)

Yes, I'd certainly like to see more.

By the way, I have a the same barrel you tested loads with on a longrifle.  Appreciate the info! :)

Go for it Bucks - never hurts to have "MORE INFO".
When testing my Bro's .50 Virginia, I was quite surprised to see the low velocity readings from an 80gr.of 2F GOEX load.  It will be interesting to see what you get.

The info is greatly appreciated and I would certainly be interested in the .50 and .54 data also!

Thank you. Great info. I have a .45 and I shoot GOEX so this data is quite useful. I also have a .50 and a .54 so I would love to see any data on those calibers as well.
