2010 Gunmakers Shoot
« on: March 09, 2010, 03:33:25 PM »
Held our 2nd Annual Gunmakers Shoot at my place last weekend, just a little thing I do for the guys I build with.  We have 10 fellas that meet every Wednesday to work on longrifles, like to do this as a thank you for the group.  Had a great day, sunny and nearly 50, with 8 shooters.  We have a blast shooting, great lunch, and good prizes too, all the fellas make something for the prize table.  I am starting to get comments on my warped ideas for targets though, I do tend to mess with 'em.   ;D  Make 'em stand on cinder blocks along a pond edge or sit on a stump to throw off their shooting form.  Had one fella throwing tennis balls for a running rabbit station.  One station was golf balls on a tee - one point for knocking the ball off, second point for whoever knocked the ball the farthest.  Highlight this year was a row of british soldiers where we got in a line and all fired on military command, wish I had a picture of that!  I'm on the far left, everybody is shooting a flintlock they made.

Now that does look like fun - look at all that green grass!  Must have started out cooler in the morning. Sun looks warm & not much ice on the pond.

Looks and sounds like a lot of fun.  I sure bet every flintlock used that day was a fine piece indeed!  Also, what a great idea of getting folks together to build their own muzzle loader.  Fantastic idea! :)

Don, I was wondering if you'd catch those fellas in the photo.  From L to R - Me (Dave Ciekot), Phil Stovall, Pete Tyler, Jim Lohr, Jerry "Bones" Garey, Jerry Kerchner, Doc Ron Sweet, and Steve Minkinnen.  If all the shooters were as good as the guns we'd be a dangerous bunch!   :o

Daryl, I guess you could call it grass, most of that is technically marsh I mow when it's dry enough!
