Twisted Barrel Channel

I am in the process of putting the swamped barrel in the channel of my pre- inlet stock. The stock is oviously twisted. My question is, could I get the barrel in wet the stock and let it sit, would this get rid of some of the twist? Any help would be greately appreciated.

Wait till you get it fully shaped or send it back as faulty.

You can get it wet and untwist it with a heat gun. Soak it pretty well inside and outside the barrel channel. The best way is to lay wet cloths in the barrel channel and on the forearm and forend overnight. Then heat it with the heat gun working on about 10" at a time. Hold it once it relaxes just past normal (untiwsted beyond straight, plus a little more) until it is cool. Hold the straightened part in the vise and heat and untwist the next 10" or so, etc.

Follow both advices above. Did I see a tutorial, or at least a good step-by-step, with pics? Try a search.
Don't do the 'barrel in wet stock' treatment. It won't take out any of the twist, and may rust and pit the barrel. BTDT.

I just got done with the same issue. I soaked it real well and left wet towels on it for a couple of hours. Removed the towels, clamped the stock in the vise and then clamped steel bar stock on both sides of the forstock about every 3 to 4 inches. As many clamps as I could get on it. Took it out of the vise and stood it up in front of a radiant heater. (Don’t leave it unattended) Took it down after about 4 hours. It was completely dry. Worked perfectly. That was last week and it is still holding shape. The only problem was I clamped it a bit too tight. The side flats on the barrel channel closed up to tight and I cannot get the barrel back in. I will now have to scrape them down. What I am looking at is them being a bit thin once done. A little less that 1/8th per side.
