Tapping the triggerplate at an angle

I am building a gun with a standing breech (hooked breech)  The tang on the standing breech was predesigned with a place for the tang screw..... the issue is that the tang bolt aligns perfectly in the tang, but...approaches the trigger plate at a slight angle..... :o :o

So .....How to drill and tap the plate for the screw to turn in well aligned with the threads..... Should I shim it up in the clamp on the drill press table... or is there a better way??

 The plate is now about 3/8" long in front of the trigger... Just enough room for the tang bolt hole and to clear the rounded front of the trigger bar

Tim,
Drilling the tang bolt at an angle is simple.  Send it to me with instructions to drill it at a perfect 90 degree angle.   It will end up at an angle for sure.

Drill the trigger plate while drilling the hole through the stock and tang.  Tap it through the stock hole as well.  This helps keep things in proper alignment.

Tim......drill it like you would any other tang bolt.    I can only assume you have one of those "pointed" things that bolt
to your drill press table, which allows you to drill from point to point.  You said it was a standing breech, if so I would hook
it to the barrel and keep both in the stock while you drill and tap.   I like to start the drill in the tang to insure a good hole
to put that point into, then turn it over and drill thru the trigger plate with my tap drill.   I then turn it over and drill down
thru the tang until I connect with the hole thru the trigger plate.   I then put in a clearance drill, I think I use a #14 for an
8x32 screw, and once again go down thru the tang until you hit the trigger plate, or real close to it.   I will then do my
countersink in the tang to fit the bolt.   After that, run the tap down thru the hole and tap the trigger plate....simple........
