Workshops
« on: April 18, 2010, 06:34:59 AM »
Recently we had a forum of some you guys with their first rifles, which was very interesting. Then I got this crazy notion, it would be interesting to see pictures of your workshops. You can guess, I love workshops.

Not much chance of that. Mine never gets clean enough for photography.

Here is part of my shop, with Taylor in it. I have general mayhem, and as Dan does, only clean when work becomes impossible.

Tom,
Might I add that Taylor does add an element of class to your shop.   By the way, have you cleaned up for spring or are you still "gone to seed"?

I have heard it said that only the creative have a cluttered work space. We if that is true then I am one of the more creative folks in this town.

Dave,
I hope I never aspire to being as creative as you.  Looking forward to seeing you at Ron Scott's at the end of the month.  I saw you at Monroe briefly but you were pre-occupied.

About all I can say is wow, I thought I was the only one who worked under those conditions. I see the work that some of you do and it looks alot better than your shops might indicate, my only problem is that my work looks too much like my shop. It was fun to look into your world even if it was just a little bit. Great idea this post and if I can figure out how to post pics I will send along a real eyeopener.   Gary

Dave,
Sorry I missed you! I was only there for the morning and had to race around to get to see every one and buy up all the old bits laying about.  My purse was on the light side to begin with but I still managed to snag a few items. I will be coming to the Fair but only on Saturday if the Lord is willing and the crick dont rise.  I am sure you have some various and asundrie parts that will need a new home. I dont think I have ever got away from there with out leaving you with a portion of my paycheck. ;D ;D

Here's about a third of my workshop - without me- not enough room. ;D

Here's another 1/3rd - not much spare room there either.

This is where I spend a good portion of my waking hours.  My gun lock-up is adjacent to my shop.

This is the outside, only the right hand side is a shop, the left is for my tractor, mowers, garden tools and such.

Here is the inside of my shop pretty much archery orientated.

But there is room for other stuff.

HA! - I have too many hobbies, I guess.  Even semi-retired, there are not enough hours in the day so some hobbies lay dorment for a while - like the RC airplanes. I haven't flown since last fall - shop is getting a re-fit, though.  I didn't show you the messiest 1/3. ;D  It's a work in progress right now. At least all the books there, are now on wall shelves - with room for other stuff too.  The bows, and fishing & fly rods are getting a new home in an open door closet being now made.  Yeah - it's a mess.

Its only 16' x 10', unheated and shared with the lawn & garden equipment but it works for me.

I am, however, envious of Dr. Tim's upcoming Boone Gunshop   ;D

Bill, your shop brings back some fond memories.  Between 1971 and 1974, when stationed on the Queen Charlotte Islands,  I worked in a lean-to Joey shack on the side of the trailer my new wife and I were renting.  Like yours - unheated, and small.  but unlike yours, not so well lit or organized.  Still, I built at least three rifles there.  Thanks for those fine shots of your shop.
