Seeking source for 5/16" bullnose bit
« on: May 05, 2010, 06:31:11 PM »
I am searching for a source to purchase a 5/16" dia. bullnose router bit for cutting a "smaller caliber" ramrod channel.  Thus far, I've only come across the commonly available 1/4" & 3/8."  Anyone aware a supplier?

Do you have a Woodcrafters near by ???  Give them a call.. A 5/16 Ballnose end mill may also do the trick.. Most machine shop supply houses carry them..

Regards
Dave

Do you have Anderson's Stores near you? They carry some unusual sized router bits of various configurations. Check them out.

I've been looking for one for several years and haven't been able to find one. Please let us know if you find a source.

Have you tried a custom bit maker?

Marv,

I know you were looking for a router bit, but you can make a 5/16" plane pretty easily.

5/16" 2 flute ball end mill. Might have to have the shank turned to fit the router.

A couple years ago I was looking for a similar tool for a different task. Nobody around me carried a 5/16 ball  endmill but I could get a 8mm one quite easy. The difference is only 2.5 thou......  Kerry

MCLS at 1-800-533-9298 sells 5/16 to 1/2 collet adapters for $4.00.  This will allow you to use a 5/16 dia. two flute ball end end mill bit in your router.  Works great.
