Conrad & Henry Schrecengast
« on: May 09, 2010, 02:03:24 AM »
Several of examples of Wm. ,Levi & Lincoln Shreckengost rifles have been photographed and published.  My interest has turned to Wm's gfather Conrad
Schreckengast and his brother Henry (Heinrich).  There is mention of them
in Jim Whisker's book Arms Makers of Western PA.   Does anyone have a photograph of a Conrad or Henry Schreckengast gun?  They changed their
spelling from gast to gost when they moved to Armstrong County in the
early 1800s.  I'd really like to see how their style differed from Wm.  They resided in Berks County before they moved west.
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.
