passed on pipe hawk
« on: September 07, 2008, 05:25:24 AM »
Today I saw a brass pipe tomohawk with a dovetailed steel blade.  It had a lot of patina on the brass (deep brown) but the "bit" didn't look used at all and looked like it had grinding marks on it.  Crude floral engraving on the brass.  $175, no provenance.  I thought of offering $75 but let it go. Tell me I did the right thing. ???

Rich,

I don't know, it sounds like you might have passed on the long lost pipe hawk of the great Iroquois warrior, Wanawasteweh.
