Lock assembler ID
«
on:
May 31, 2010, 06:36:51 PM »
I'm working on a gun with a Siler lock. The lock has a circle with a D inside stamped on the inside of the lock plate. It looks to be pretty old. Is this a RE Davis lock? If not, any idea who?
Thanks,
Bill

Yes that is a Davis lock.
Has been their touchmark for years.

Thanks Rich, For some reason I was thinking Davis used a diamond with a D inside as a trademark.

Roger, that would be Homer Sales. Appalachian lock ass. Real good lock. He used to assemble for Jim Chambers. Might be retired now though, not sure.

Homer is still working on a limited basis. For the most part, he only assembles our Round-face English and Colonial Virginia locks. He has just about retired from assembling Siler locks, but still does one on special order.
