Desperately need a part
« on: June 24, 2010, 05:24:02 PM »
Gents,

I am scraping parts into a pile for a Leman build and have hit a snag.  I have everything I need but the trigger plate, and I can't find one anywhere.  This is the part I need:
  Leman Trigger Plate

I have tried Track, Pecatonica and the Log cabin Shop.  Any other suggestions?  If you have one or know where I can find one, PLEASE drop me a line.  Thanks!!

Forget about that stupid looking thing.    Pin the trigger high through the wood, and make a simple plate with a slot in it
for the trigger, and enough room at the front for the tang bolt........Don

If you don't want to make it, call  Tip Curtis  615-654-4445.  Real good chance he will have it.

Those should be sold with a hack saw to cut off the lug. I was helping a guy put a kit together one time and I thought he was going to cry as I cut that off so we could use the plate....told him as far as I was concerned , that was a casting sprue.

Neither MBS or L&R make or have it. Those are most likely made by Pete Allan, who is a member here.

All joking aside, If you want a plate with a pin lug like this one try TVM that's "Tennessee Valley Manufacturing" they make one but with a longer tail . You will have to cut it and round it off, but that's easy enough.

File a plate to shape then bend a deep U of sheet steel file to a shape that suits you and silver solder to the plate for "tower".  Just make the contact area for the solder large enough to make it secure.
In the end this is better than pinning through the wood IMO assembly and disassembly is easier etc.

The TP Leman 1 P further down the page is copied from an original Leman, The one that you pictured is a fantasy part. Do like Leman did, if he ran out of parts, he used Henry parts, or forge your own and save the money.

Do as Don says, pin it high in the wood and make your own flat trigger plate.

pinning high in the wood will give the trigger MUCH better let-off than one of those trigger assembles. They are pinned too low to get good leverage on the trigger.
