Looks like a Japanese Matchlock...Some of them are not real old.

Hi Tim,
I saw that too.  Obviously, whoever wrote the news feed didn't know anything about the gun.  They even called it a blunderbuss.  It is clearly a Japanese matchlock, whether fake or authentic I cannot tell.  Of course, whatever the gun is does not really matter in the story.
