New Shot Pouches

Here are two of my latest shot pouches.  The first one is a bark tanned deer hide bag featuring an Allentown Indian Head Belt Plate made by Mark Wheland.

The second pouch is a double made of vegetable tanned leather.  It was my entry in the judging at Dixon's this year.  I was quite surprised and pleased to receive a Judges Choice Award for that one.

I have a few more bark tanned deer hide pouches over in the for sale section of the board.

Nice work on both of those Eric. Congratulations on the ribbon as well! That is a nice pouch.

I really like that bark tan one too. It has a great character to it.

Eric great job on both of them and congratulations on your winning entry.   Sorry to miss you there, but I will be at Dixon's next year.  Again, both pouches are sweet.

Eric,  I've enjoyed seeing the bags that you make and I like them very much.  They are well designed and well executed which raises my question about the thought process (I guess).  Are the tufts of hair on the top bag just a remnant and the rest was worn off in use or was it just not important enough to clean the last of the hair off the hide before making it into a bag?  I like the way it looks, but I'm trying to understand why the hair is there.

Charlie - Both bags will be at CLA. Check Mark Wheland's table or the Getz Barrel table. Maybe I will just wear, ribbon and all. 


James - the thought process on the deer hide bag is the hide I bought was tanned with the hair on in some areas.  I thought it might look interesting, so I cut out the front panel in the area with the hair. It was kind of an experiment and something different for me. That is it. Actually, I guess there isn't much of a thought process behind it.  Sometimes I get lucky.

Eric, I really like the way you finish the edges with thin leather and make the long lines along the edges of your straps. They are nice touches to go along with the very attractive shapes.  I find I prefer that style. 
I am not much for the fringes, but hey some people like that alot.
