Another Single Band Horn

  This horn is about 12” around the outside curve. The base is Cherry with oil on it, about 2”s, as always it is hollowed out and is held in place by four steel pins. The band was heated and pressed on, no pins. The antler tip is held on with two steel pins. The color on the body is as found except for some brown shoe polish. I bought three raw horns and when I cleaned them up this was the color, even after scraping.

I had(still fave some) a bunch 0f old,dry, horn I bought from an estate. I would put it in my hot lard and leave it for 4 or 5 minutes at maybe 275degrees. After smoothing the horn and letting them set overnight they had a very similar color.
