Working on new rifle
« on: August 22, 2010, 01:21:45 AM »
Soon I'll be able to post pics of my 40 cal, percussion Southern mountain rifle.  Almost too hot in the garage to work on it.  Just finished inletting and cutting out the patchbox.  Was really neat to be able to use my Grandfathers brace and bits to do this.  I really love using his old hand tools.  Hope to have this rifle done by deer season but I don't want to rush it.

Using tools of someone loved who has passed them to you is special thing to do.

Keep us posted on your progress.

I agree something livesin those old tools.  People will see that gun and know that there is something special about it, but not really be able to put their finger on it, but you will know.
