Priming feather
« on: September 06, 2010, 09:18:20 PM »
I saw something the other day that I didn't know about, maybe some of you did.
It was a rifle that had a hole under the grip rail and in the hole was a short piece of what looked like a goose quill. It was cut very short and was used to hold an extra priming charge. The owner said if you got a flash in the pan you pulled the quill and re-primed the pan. Pretty neat.

Evidently the hole was flat bottomed and the quill looked a little smaller than a 22 short case. You filled it with priming powder and stuck it tightly in the hole.
