Upper Susquehanna Turkey Gun?? Try #2

I saw this gun the other day and it spoke to me. I had to buy it. It is unsigned except for the lock. Its about 53 cal smoothbore. The bore is very good- shiny. The bird on the cheek seems to be a turkey instead of an eagle. I believe it was possibly made to hunt turkeys in the upper Susquehanna region of Pa. Please give me your thoughts, comments, or opinions.

Cal .530
Barrel- 41 3/4 in X .882 at breech and .850 at muzzle.
LOP 13in.
Butt 3.98in.X 1.15in.
Wrist -  H 1.47in.    W 1.09in.
Width at lock panels  Front- 1.43in.   Back- 1.38in.
Forearm width at-- Back pin 1.19in.  Middle pin 1.11in.  Front pin 1.04in.
One piece round nosecap with no groove- Two pins on bottom.
RR pipes 1.52in. long- round with raised belt near each end.
Two piece entry pipe with thumbnail overlay soldered on.

I agree with Jim, this gun looks like a New York piece to me, regardless of who made it. It is a nicely made, attractive rifle.  Shelby Gallien

H.J. Swinney's 5-volume set, The New York State Firearms Trade , lists C. Baker "Probably a dealer in wholesale hardware and gun materials" Swinney makes note of one dated fowling piece,"C Baker Albany 1839 The only C. Baker photo is of a late half-stock rifle.

Nate......neat gun, where do you turn up these things?      I can't place it, almost a snyder county profie, but there the
similarity ends.   I did notice one little thing, the ramrod pipes are formed like many found on fowlers.   Don't sell it too
quickly and bring it along over to the shop on your next visit...........Don

Nate, I am having a hard time classifying this nice smooth bore as a New York gun. Is the trigger made of brass? If New York it would be close to the PA border in my opinion.

No initials on barrel. Just a couple of dings.  Yes, trigger is brass.

I am totally fascinated by question of whether the trigger guard is brass. What hath that to do with fate of western civilization? In my 70+ years I have seen only 1 US gun w/ a wooden trigger guard and maybe a dozen with german silver guards [all of which were on rifles otherwise mounted in german silver].

The question was "is the TRIGGER brass" not the triggerguard.

I appreciate it when people show lots of views of guns.  As Dr. Tim said as a builder I want to see as much as I can.

My question about it being a brass trigger makes one more point in favor of the New York attribution.
