Kentucky rifle, and me, as a resource.

I think it's related to building, but if not move it.  Does anyone have "The Kentucky rifle, and Me" by Edith Cooper.  Does it have any value as a resource. for building, or researching particular schools, or is it outdated.  Any good pictures.  Kind of like to know before I lay out the cash.  How about a small review.

The book by Edith Cooper is of little value to the builder.    It has a lot of pictures of mostly late period guns (1800's)that Mrs. Cooper and her husband collected over his lifetime..   It contains pictures of about 13 super Joe Long rifles, quite a
few target rifles, and some golden age period kentuckies, but most are single pictures, full length, and no close-ups of

Thanks Don, for the fast feedback.  At $75 it was a bit pricey, and there's other books I would move up on my resource list.

I have a copy and I cannot tell you the last time I pulled it off the shelf.  That ought to give you an idea of its value as a reference for a builder.  Don pretty much summed it up.

It is one of the few books that have any pictures of Joe Long guns in them. I got my copy at Dixons and paid about $30 for a new copy.  I is not a graet resource for a builder though unless you are trying to build a Joe Long

Bill, I have a copy you can borrow anytime you show up back here in Corn Patch.  I believe I paid about $30 about ten years ago.  The only contribution that I can think of that has benefited the craft (other than enjoyable reading) is that it spawned a small interest in Joe Long's carbon copy rifles which resulted in a few Joe Long style pieces of furniture to be made and a suitable stock.  Track offers some pieces, still.  Cheers, Bookie
