horn bottle

Ok This idea hit me in the middle of the night it woke me up so I wrote down how to do it while it was still fresh in my mind and then this afternoon went out and made this little bottle and no glue was used the bottom is a tight pressed fit ..the lid is walnut and fit really snug ..

I'd say a horner would have been proud to have made that in the 18th or 19th century as well as today.

well in researching horn making I have found out that the horn industry is what the plastic industry came from so I figure if it can done in plastic why not horn ..Plus I also found out that horn containers were made in just about every shape and size ..The hard part is trying to figure out how they(the old horners)did it ..

Enough attaboys.  For us hackers, how did you do it?

heat and pressure  No I am planing on make a write up on it after I make some more but for the quick idea I made a mandrel heated the horn pressed it in side then after it cooled down I put it in my lathe and did some turning then made the bottom and put it all together again heating the horn and pressing together its that simpe
