Three band/Pewter/Antler Tip Horn

 It is about 12" around the outside curve. The Walnut base is about 2 1/4" and is held in with tree steel pins. The collar is pewter and the tip is antler. The tip is pinned to the collar and then they are pinned to the horn, each with three steel pins. The bands were heated and pressed on with two steel pins each to hold them in place. Body colored with AF and bands with a mixture of dyes.

Tim, I also like that horn very much - it's not over done but yet it has "class". I think I will be using this style when I build a rifle/horn combo for my grand son. What time period and place would say this horn fits in?

Dang, tim! Why weren't you making horns 200 years ago? This is great.

 The tip is based on a North Carolina horn that was part of an article in the Jan 2010 issue of The Horn Book . The rest is from other Southern horns that I have seen. As to time frame, possibly early 19th C but I would think in the teens or later. There are others here that have a better handle on a time frame I'm sure.

I really like the "simple" lines. Refined, not overdone, and with just the right touch of adornment to say "I'm practical, but pretty!"
