Since sight radius seems to be critical in chunk guns & barrels over 42" in length tend to be custom items, is it "legal" to put sight base extensions on either end of the barrel?   You would just dovetail them for nonadjustable sights.

I don't know if it will help u but sight has to be six in from the breech

At most of the chunk gun matches, including the Alvin York shoot, the guns are inspected before the match.   They have
certain rules concerning conformity to traditional style of guns.   I don't think sight extensions would be allowed.  In
reality if you have a gun with a 42" barrel, and can see the sights OK, there would be no reason to try to extend the
sight radius.   My favorite chunk gun had a 46" barrel, mainly because you get tired just cleaning that darn thing between
shots.........Don
