New England rifle/ new pics

This is a repost as I cleaned up photobucket and all the pics in my posting went south.
This is my interpetation of a New England gents sporting rifle c 1810 - 1820. I never saw one so I have to use my imagination. specs are. lock is L & R "Bailes with the tail rounded off. barrel. 7/8 -  .45/ - 36.  I nade a nock typ hook breech. My own set triggers. English style trigger guard (casting). barrel held by tang bolt and  "blind hook". Poured pewter nose cap. I was trying to keep the engraving quite light.

Way to go greybeard - looks great - and appears  you're ready to come down top PG and shoot with us - do pick a milder Sunday.  Any time the temps warmer than about -10 is fine with us.

I have never seen another rifle with the front of the lock pannel molding shaped like that.  Where did that idea come from is it a traditional design?

Hi;  The only time I ever saw one like that was in Muzzle Blast years ago on a side slapper built by Royland Southgate. It is a bit easier than the conventional style that always gives me a bit of trouble to get right. That gun is # 07   -- 1993. It is the only time that I ever used it.
