Thats a nice size, you do an excellent job with those, nice overall patina. Love to see one of these in hand , just looking at the photos you would take it to be a full size Axe.

And I can hardly wait to get my hands on it! I like it so much I have already cut out a new fowler bag to "wear" it. Practical and good looking. How can you beat that?

I gotta say that on top of being a heck of a designer and builder, Bart is also a pleasure to deal with!

Bart, beautiful piece of work. Did you make the head and if so, how??? If not, where did you get it.

Yes, I made the head using some heavy stock that I got from a shipyard in Norfolk VA. I used my plasma cutter to get the general shape. Lots of file/rasp work to shape it out, drilled through the head to make the hole for the heft and finished it with round rasps. Then I heat treated it. Thanks for the compliments, ronpardue.

I just received the axe. Holy cow! Bart's not just good--- He's fast!

The axe is better than I could have hoped. I had kind of figured I needed a head slightly bigger and heavier, but now that I have it in my hands, he's clearly demonstrated his grasp for functional axes. In addition to looking great, it's going to be highly functional and useful for my needs.

They look more like hatchets to me.
What kind of bag do they come with?
What's the difference between custom made and regular made?

I can't speak for Bart, but far as I'm concerned the proportions are right for "axe," while hatchets have oversize (and over-heavy) heads for my needs.

I'm making the bag myself, a fowler bag just wide enough so the bag axe will fit flat in the bottom.

As for custom versus not, he worked with me and built it to my needs and specs. That's about as custom as it gets, isn't it?

Brownbear, I'm glad you are satisfied with your Axe. Hopefully it will stand up the the rigors of Alaska when taken afield in your hunting pouch, while in pursuit of snowshoe hare, ducks, geese or whatever you may intend to bag. I enjoyed making it for you! Thanks again.
