fenceline 8 pt
« on: January 02, 2011, 10:47:27 PM »
went back behind my house this morning to a stand that I call the fenceline cause that is what it is. A old fence runs down the entire length where the hardwoods meets the pines and Ive hunted this spot for 30 yrs or more an have taken lots of bucks my best being a 150 inch 10 pt. Got up the stand at daylight an at 7:40 this 8 pt came in at 30 yrds faceing me an I let him have a self moulded .527 roundball out of my Isaac Haines flintlock that I named lil sweetheart. The shot went in the left front chest an came out near the right back leg. It knocked him down but somehow he got back to his feet an went just out of sight about 40 yrds. He aint my best but he sure aint my worst
Nothing beats the feel of a handmade southern iron mounted flintlock on a cold frosty morning

If you didn't see a deer, you could look at that beautiful curly maple all day and never get bored!

Nice.  Puts me in mind of when I lived and hunted in Saskatchewan in the 50s.
Thanks for the posting    Bob

They don't have to be 150 inchers to be beautiful.  Gorgeous buck.

Very nice! I'd be really happy with that one.  I'm still trying to get at least one buck with mine.  Maybe next year! ::)

I can see only one problem. I would be admiring the rifle so much I would have never seen the deer. Thanks for posting, congratulations on a nice deer and excellent rifle.  Al

I'll bet that deer was proud to get shot by such a fine rifle.  That grain is over-engineered by nature.
