While reading suzkat's post on war clubs i'm reminded that tiger hunt has some precarve clubs of various styles and was wondering if anyone has finnished any of Bartons war clubs. They look like a neat project. Gary

Fred Miller has lots of different ones. He sold his stock business but still makes clubs.

There are a couple dozen original ones shown with expandable photos on the Splendid Heritage website. It won't let me link directly to the exact page so you'd have to choose "club" in Catagory and "Northeast" in Region.
All the ball headed ones were probably made from saplings growing naturally crooked on a stream bank or steep slope , then the ball root cluster carved into the ball shape. That way the wood grain followed the handle and bend right into the ball for strength.
